The Custom II is a full sized model 1911, with a five inch barrel. The frame, receiver, and slide are made of steel. The Custom II utilizes a single full-length guide rod. Some variants have an external extractor, while others have a more traditional internal extractor. Although the Custom II is considered Kimber's base model, it has a number of excellent features, such as: a lowered ejection port, beveled magazine well, extended thumb safety, and beavertail grip safety. The Custom II also features an internal firing pin safety. This feature is designed to provide additional assurance that the gun will not fire if dropped, as the firing pin is blocked from striking the chambered cartridge unless the grip safety is depressed.

Our Experience:
We purchased a Kimber Custom II from AIM Surplus for $669.00 + shipping. The gun arrived at the dealer in new condition including a: case, gunlock, slide removal tool and manual. We choose the all black base model without night sites as the price was right. The gun is of exquisite quality and retains that classic 1911 point and shoot feel.
We were immediately impressed with the guns performance at the range. The Custom II was accurate maintaining very nice groups. We experienced no malfunctions and the action cycled smoothly irrespective of the ammunition used. Overall, it is the best bang for the buck. The only drawbacks are the lack of night sights and the low ammunition capacity; common is most 1911 variants.
